Please provide Your name and that of your company

Andrew Federspiel, Knapsack Games.

Sum your business up in a sentence.

Knapsack Games designs and publishes board games for the hobby board game market

(and hopefully to the masses in the future!).

What's the business model?

I design a board game, publish it with crowdfunding help, then sell it through distribution at retail.

Who are your competitors?

All other board game publishers, from Hasbro to the many small hobby publishers.

What's your USP?

We make beautiful games that are approachable yet deeply replayable. A+ products.

How have you funded it so far?

Personal savings and crowdfunding.

What were you doing before?

Designing video games.

Where did the idea come from?

I'd always wanted to design board games. I finally worked up the savings and confidence I needed to make the jump, and the timing with the rise of crowdfunding was perfect.

What's the smartest thing you've done so far?

Not pushed products out prematurely.

What's the one thing you would do differently?

Start the company with a co-founder. I'm the only one in the company (contractors and collaborators help, but it's not the same as a co-founder).

If your business was a flavor of ice-cream, what would it be?

Mint chocolate chip. Everything you need in one, and always a great bet!

What outside ideas have inspired you?

Video games and movies!

Where are you going to be in 12 months' time?

Great question :) This year should inform that. Hopefully in the process of bringing our third game to market.

What’s the best financial advice that you have received, that you would like to pass onto our audience?

Be smart with your money, but don't obsess over it - otherwise you'll never get the actual job done.

What 3 attributes are most important to you if were going to hire somebody?

Brains, integrity, and investment in the mission.
